General adoption information
Adult dogs have a minimum requested adoption donation of $150 and puppies are $160. Each donation covers necessary vaccines, a spay/neuter, a heart worm test (if old enough) and monthly preventative while in care, flea/tick treatment if necessary, de-worming if necessary, and a pre-paid lifetime ID tag provided by idtag.com. We do adopt dogs out within a 100-mile radius of Elsmere KY but prefer to complete adoptions in the NKY/Greater Cincinnati area. We always show preference to homes with fenced-in yards and we evaluate invisible fences on an individual basis. We do not allow the use of dog runs, cable tie-outs, or chains in our homes.
If you are interested in adoption, please fill out an Adoption Application. One of our volunteers will be in contact soon!

MACY
Macy is one of those easy to fall in love with dogs. Macy is a 2 year old Lab mix that was returned to Good Buddies after being adopted as a puppy in 2009. The previous owner claimed Macy could not be housebroke and was a destructive chewer. However, Macy's foster mom says that couldn't be further from the truth. "Macy has yet to chew anything she was not allowed to chew and she comes to me when she has to go outside and potty." Macy knows basic commands such as sit stay and come. She also has a great recall and comes bounding happily to you when you say her name. She is crate trained and all you have to do is point to it and she goes in willingly. Macy gets along well with other dogs and though she isn't interested in the foster family cats she doesn't bother them. She seems to have lacked proper socializing as a puppy so she is a little timid around strangers, mostly men and children. She may be better suited to a family with older children. She is fine with the young boys in her foster home but gets a little skittish when they run around the house. If you would like to meet Macy, please fill out an adoption application.

JACKSON
Jackson is the cutest, sweetest, most well-behaved boy! He is a 1 year old, 22lb male beagle/dachshund mix. He is a major snuggler and loves affection. He also loves other dogs and is a good playmate. He would do well with children and is well-mannered. Jackson does enjoy chasing cats to play so maybe no cats in the home would be best to keep him out of trouble! A securely fenced yard is required for Jackson or he will find hole/gap and go say hello to the neighborhood. Jackson would also make a great apartment pet. We know this special boy will go fast, so fill out your adoption application right away!

RONNIE
Ronnie is a 5 month old male heeler/aussie/hound mix pup. He was born is foster care on August 16th. His left eye is half blue and half brown, very unique. What a sweet and lovable boy he is! He knows how to sit and is working on down. He is very dog and kid-friendly. He also loves the kitty in his foster home but he may be a bit too much for a shy cat since he likes to chase and give kisses. Ronnie's foster mom is working on crate and house training and both are works in progress. A fenced yard is preferred in an adoptive home as well as a family willing to continue his training. If you are looking for an adorable family-friendly puppy, please fill out an adoption application today.

GINGER
Ginger is a very pretty mountain cur mix. She is between 1-2 years old and weighs 44 pounds. Her coat is short and smooth and is the most beautiful reddish brown color. She is an energetic friendly girl who enjoys romping around with her foster dog brothers. She always has plenty of kisses to give and is affectionate. She is a quiet girl in her crate and she is making good progress on her house training. She listens well and is eager to please. Ginger is a happy girl who may be a bit too jumpy for little children in the home. She can't wait to meet you so please fill out an adoption application today!
RINNY
Rinny is a beautiful, lovable 10 year-old 80lb. male German Shepherd Dog. Rescued as a stray in "farm country," his foster family believes he may have once lived outside, but is now so happy to be an inside doggie. He is great with his doggie foster brother and does best with dogs that are laid-back and won't get in his face. He does need a few days to settle into a new home because sometimes new dogs can be overwhelming for him. Rinny loves treats, but is not food aggressive. He may try to eat food out of young baby/toddler hands and is available to child-free homes only. Rinny has been diagnosed with diminished vision and he can think that anything in your hand is a treat and he may try to grab it. Rinny is OK with some cats but will pick on them if he feels they are getting more attention than him.
Rinny is great in a crate at night and barks when he has to go out and use the bathroom. Even though he’s older, he still LOVES playing with squeaky toys and really entertains himself while everyone is relaxing in the living room. Rinny has a soft, medium coat of hair and will stand still to get brushed out without fussing. He has such a wonderful personality. He groans when he sleeps and has a deep bark when he plays, but he’s not a loud dog overall. He walks great on a leash and would prefer a long leisurely walk as opposed to jogging. He has hip dysplasia which is common to the breed but it is being managed with an inexpensive holistic anti-inflammatory. He was recently groomed at Spaw Pet Grooming and was deemed to be “a very good boy”. True to his breed, Rinny is intelligent and loyal and will make someone a lifelong best friend.
