NEWS UPDATE 7/23/10
It has been a hot summer so far! Please remember the special needs of your dog in this weather. DO NOT leave them in a parked car even for a little bit. Be mindful of how much time your dog spends outside during the hot parts of the day and always have fresh, cool (not ice cold) water availalbe. If you see dogs in your neighborhood outside without shelter or water please call animal control right away.
Our dogs Colin, Kimmy, and Tater are now all urgent. Their long-term foster dad is moving and cannot take them. He already has 3 other dogs that cannot be rehomed for various behavorial/medical issues and Colin, Kimmy, and Tater will have to go to the humane society if nobody can take them. What a horrible experience for dogs used to being inside a home! Please think about fostering them if you cannot adopt.
NEWS UPDATE 6/4/10
Well, we skipped May so we will have to make an extra great update for June! We met lots of great people at the Pet aFair held way back on April 24 and it was a lot of fun. We still have available merchandise to sell so let us know if bumper stickers or lollipops are your thing. Since the pet fair we've been focusing on our longer-term pets and hoping homes come along soon for them. Please look at Angel, Colin, Kimmy, Tater, and Elliot. They are all great dogs and we now they have the perfect family out there for them....is it you? Is it your friends or co-workers? Please let others know about our pets in need if you think it would be a good match-up. Do we even need to say that we need foster homes? We will say it anyway. Please think about fostering and if you cannot personally foster please tell a fellow animal lover. We want to save as many animals as possible from hot, cramped rural shelters and we need YOU!
NEWS UPDATE 4/12/10
Has everyone gone out and bought the Cincinnati Magazine April 2010 edition? It's a great issue featuring pets and we are in there too! Check for our small article about how cool the internet is and how it does help us to save dogs. Speaking of the internet, we gave our website a nice face-lift. Our goal is to make the site user-friendly and easy to understand. If you have any comments, please let us know! This is a given by now, but we always are looking for foster homes. If you can't foster all the time would you consider providing weekend care to foster families who may be traveling this spring and summer? E-mail us at gbcr@mail.com if this sounds like a way you can help. We have our first spring/summer event this month on April 24th. Check out our newly added "Events" tab for all the info. We will be selling lollipops and stickers to benefit our adoptable dogs. The sticker designs are pretty cool and the event is free, so please consider stopping by and saying hi!
NEWS UPDATE 3/6/10
We just want to say a big "thank you" to everyone who has shared our website with friends. The word is getting around that we are here to help, and more and more people are contacting us. We love it! The more people the know about us, the more we can make folks aware of our need for volunteers. The Available Dogs tab is up-to-date with brand new dogs sitting in shelters that are desperate for foster homes. Some are urgent, so please check the list and see what you may be able to do. Fostering is so rewarding and we need your help! If you cannot foster full time, we are looking for people to provide respite foster care in case a foster family goes out of town for a few days. Also, we are looking for a person to volunteer by calling vet offices/personal references and completing our reference checks. If you cannot foster at all this is a great way to help! Also, adoption is a great way to help since a fostered dog then goes to a wonderful home. Please consider adding a dog to your family if you feel that you can make that commitment. As always, e-mail us with questions at gbcr@mail.com and also please e-mail us to donate or volunteer. Thanks!
NEWS UPDATE 1/30/10
Wow! 2010 Has been a good year so far. We've worked with a few new shelters and now have more dogs on the list to be rescued. We've already had some adoptions and been able to pull a few more to safety. As always, we are asking you to spread the word about our need for foster homes. It's not a scary thing to do and foster dogs are so grateful to be saved! We can match a foster dog to your preferences and would be happy if you tried fostering even one time. The dogs will be very grateful! If you would like to give back more this year and foster, please fill out our foster family application. It only takes a few minutes and it helps us make a good foster match for you.
NEWS UPDATE 12/8/09
Can you believe we are in the midst of the holiday season? This year really seemed to fly by! Please consider a one-time foster commitment just for the holidays. It can be a great experience for you and your family and you can know that you are giving the gift of LIFE! We are also seeking year-end gifts for our emergency vet care fund. We have already had two puppies require a little bit of extra TLC and we want to be able to help even more this next year. Please contact gbcr@mail.com for more information about either need.
NEWS UPDATE 11/13/09
We are behind on our news, but we wanted to announce our first two adoptions, Brownie and Pancho the beagle brothers! They both went to wonderful families who will love them very much. The third puppy, Freckles, traveled to a rescue in upstate New York where he will be quickly adopted. We still have several adults waiting for homes, and we are desperate for FOSTER FAMILIES!
We are also in the process of applying for our 501(c)(3) tax status. If anyone has experience with this process and is willing to assist, please contact us at gbcr@mail.com.

Welcome to the brand new website for Good Buddies Canine Rescue! We are glad you found us, we are looking forward to becoming a part of greater Cincinnati's pet community. Please check out our other tabs, especially the "How to Help" section. We are looking for foster families to accept animals as they wait for new homes. Since we are just starting out, each foster family means we could save one more dog from being euthanized in a rural Kentucky shelter.
We are looking for volunteers of all kinds, not just foster families. We are looking for legal services as well as accounting services. What a great way to give your time if you are unable to keep an animal in your home! Also, we need crafters to donate items to our proposed Etsy store. We would like to sell pet-related items to directly benefit the animals in our care. Dog collars, bandannas, pet beds, toys, and other crafted accessories are all welcome. This would be a fantastic experience for people who love to create things! We are also looking for a dog trainer to help us with dogs that may need some extra effort. If you think you can help, please contact us.
Contact gbcr@mail.com if you would like the opportunity to be a part of this new rescue.
